Alrighty, when I was online, my screen developed a blue hue. It shows absolutely no red. The cable seems fine, but I have no back ups to test with. My LCD is pretty old, would it do this if it was starting to go out? I tried messing with all the settings, and the only place it shows red is the menu on the moniter. I'll attach a picture below, so would that make it the video card? I don't want to spend to much money I don't have to, so any help would be appriciated.

Sounds like the video card to me. I'm not sure if you can even replace the video card because some of the newer computers have the video card built into the motherboard.

yes but you can get an external (not really external but seperate from the MB) video card if your pc has the slots to put it (can't remember what the slots are called)

I've never seen a screen loose all red coloring... IDK what it is..

Well, I was going to get a new video card, the slots are PCI, PCI Express, and AGP. I have a PCI express slot, so I can get a recent video card.

Also, it is going from normal, to the lack of red, and the cable isn't moving at all, so I agree that it's probably the video card. Looks like Newegg gets some cash from me in the near future!

aaaah! yes PCI ports... I knew it was something like that..
get something from ATI they're great... mines been working flawlessly for quite sometime and the best part is, I got it for $40! (granted you probably couldn't get it for that cheap but anyway...)

if it's only showing a blue, red, or green hue, it's way more likely a monitor issue than video card.
i had this happen to an old CRT before. (except i got red hue)

i had a temp fix. i'd drop it a douple of inches on my desk. sometimes it would black out, sometimes it would goto normal, sometimes no change at all. i'd normally dismiss this as a bad idea, but you'll probably need a new monitor anyways. your call :d

I did try hitting it, but it's an LCD, a really old one at that, I think it's 5 or so years old, but it works.

I think I'll try a new video card, because I was needing one anyways, and then a new monitor as soon as possible. It will be nice to go past 1024x768 one day...

Go to walmart and buy an lcd monitor that you would use to replace the monitor and hook it up, if problem still persists, return the monitor to walmart and get your money back. That will eliminate the possibility of a bad monitor.

I really don't want to go to walmart for anything computer related, I don't want a low quality product.

I thought of doing that, but as long as it's working as it is now, I'm going to get a video card, then a moniter that can take advantage of it.

If it happens anymore, I'll try out one of my friend's old CRT's, and see how that does.

theres not really any noticable quality gaps between monitors of the same specs by different companies (or where you buy it).
ya, try giving your friend's crt a try before you drop any money, just to know for sure if its a video card or monitor issue.

I didn't think this deserved a new thread, so I'm doing a little self hijack.

I just ordered a new videocard off of Newegg, I needed a new one anyways, and it should take some load off of my computer. But, it has an S-video output on it, but looks like it has a couple more pins than the standard 4. Can I just use a normal S-video cord? Or will I need a special one. I'll post the card below.

Any insight you guys have would be awesome.
