i want a 1080p monitor for my ps3, i want it to be on the small side, i want to watch tv on it

-so i decided to get an acer p243waid 24" 1080p monitor.

http://www.compusa.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3553267&Sku=A179-2414&SRCCODE=COMPGOOBDF&CMP=OTC-GPRODUCTS

-it has an hdmi input so i can use that for my ps3
-but i also want to watch tv on it because this will be at college.
-i only will have my laptop up at school not my desktop
-so im buying a usb tv tuner to hook into my laptop
-then im going to run a vga cable from my laptop to the 2nd monitor and enable dual screens
-then plug the coaxial cable into the tv tuner and start the tv tuner software
-next, i can drag the tv tuner software window to the 2nd monitor and watch tv on it
-sound for the monitor will come from my z-5500 speakers(will use for ps3 also)
-think it will work?

Work? You'll have the sweetest system around!

I really wish I had something like that for my room. I wouldn't mind one of those huge apple screens on my wall...

Why 1080P for a 24in screen? You'd be better off gettin a 720P because that screen size is half the size it needs to be, to even see the difference between 720P and 1080P.

As in, your eyes, visually, cannot see the difference from a few feet away. If you sit 2 inches away, you MAY see the difference :).

Also, 1080P will make other sources look sketchy, unless its all HD.

well the tv tuner has hd channels, i could watch hd movies that i have on my laptop on the 2nd screen, and i have a ps3.....i can watch blu-ray on a 1080p screen!

plus, the space for the tv is not very big, and if i want to take it home, i dont want it to be a hassle.....last year i had my 32 inch lcd up at school and it was a pain getting it up there and taking it home.

this seems like a perfect fit to me

Thats all fair enough, but if you can get that screen in 720P and its cheaper, go for that, because the 1080P will be wasted( you wouldnt be able to tell the difference between 1080P n 720P) at that size. If not, it looks pretty good.
