ok, my recycling bin is set to automatically delete crap when it is put in. i unfortuneitly threw some files i wanted to keep in there by accident and of wondering if there is a way i can get them back. it was a bunch of pictures i had saved on a flash drive that got cleaned out by accident by my gf.

Why not just delete the files instead of sending to the recycling bin, which then deletes them? Seems like that would save computing power.

But if the files were on the flash drive and you deleted them I don't think there's a way to get them back.

I know there is a system reset option where you can basically set your computer to what it was like a certain time ago, but it doesnt recover everything.

I think you're out of luck in this case, if you deleted them from your computer, I could help you, flash drive....well not so much.

when you 'delete' a file, you're only telling your computer that it may write over that space on your hard drive. how long it will take may vary.
i have no idea if this same rule applies to flash memory though. it can't hurt to try, i guess. grab a free file recover recovery program and scan the flash drive. hopefully its still there, but again, i have no idea if this rule applies to flash memory

I think he's more looking for ways to recover it from his hard drive, not the flash drive.
I'd try stuff with the computer first. I think flash actually deletes it...

If you want to try a good program that you can use for the hard drive (should work on the flash drive as well, although like m3mph1s and Minion said, it may not work the same way. Try Photorec http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec

I used this program to recover files after supposedly doing a safe restore on my computer and backing up my files. Only to find out it saved everything but my pictures on the backup. Needless to say I couldn't lose pictures from my Key West trip and my Bermuda summer course. I spent 4 or 5 days looking for the pictures, and looking for a good recovery program. Found that and used it as directed. It took an entire night (from 8PM to at least 6 AM) to run, but it recovered every last picture that was ever on my computer, along with word documents and other files I requested. The down side is they will not have the same file name, so you will have some serious sorting to do. Be sure you only search the file type that you need/want otherwise it takes much much longer searching. With your flash drive it may not take long, but with your hard drive it could take significantly longer to search for word documents, pictures, and other types of files.
