I have a Zune, and no real problems there, but I want to put a movie on it. What is a good trusy worthy program to rip a DVD to my Zune?

Dvd shrink 3.2 if it's a coded disk
clone dvd 2 uncoded disk
Nero start smart un coded disk

All of these will allow you to pull the file's of the disk and then use your zune softwear to change it to a MP4.

If you're using linux K3b will do it, dang this program does everything (I had to look to make sure it ripped DVD's as I just learned it ripped cd's last week). But you're probably not using Linux as you're using a Microsoft product.

Yeah I am running Vista for the OS, and I have Nero, it came on my Alienware. I will have to give some of those others a try. I got AoA DVD ripper off download.com, but its just a trial and costs $34.95

I'm afraid there are probably n one that you can find that are free. You would have to "buy" it.

If you have 2 cd/dvd drives you could get a pclinuxos live cd and run that in one drive and have the dvd on the other. That way you could rip the dvd with k3b which is on the live cd.

Or if you don't have 2 drives you could install pclinux or another distro on your hdd with Vista and have a dual-boot. Or another option, install it to a flash drive and boot off that.

I dont think you can boot from flash drives ): I tried with 3 different Linux distro's, but the only one that will work is damn small linux, but you have to be in windows first to boot from it, i believe. I had an issue where the boot sector on my laptop was corrupted, and i couldnt boot from a CD, and i didnt want to hassle with windows again.

I think you have to set something in the bios to try to boot from the flash drive first. The other option I forgot is using a virtual machine in Windows, such as vmware. So you could be in Windows and in a program window be booted into linux as well.

BTW I think it's great you can easily put DSL on a small flash drive, but DSL is pretty bad as far as programs go. There's not too many programs you can load. If you're looking for something small try Antix, it's based on Mepis but striped down and it uses Fluxbox.
