so im trying to get a nice converter because the movie maker my computer comes with doesnt allow mov files. so i found "any video converter" on a google search and itll convert 100% of the movie you want it to (unlink the 50% ones..ugh i hate that!). but now when i try to play the converted videos, it says it cant find the right codec or something like that. is there one i can download thatll work? is there just a free movie maker that will work with mov files?
im not that good with computers..thanks

Try VLC Media Player. It's free and works great, and you don't have to stoop to using Apple products :-p

wait, is this to edit movies or is it a converter or what?
my camera records in mov files and windows movie maker doesnt let those kind of files work with movie maker..so i gotta convert them and my converter converts 100% of the video, but on playback, it says it doesnt have the right codec and doesnt let those videos work in movie maker either..

torrentspy a good peice of software and be done with it.
i believe .mov containers can be frameserved via avisynth
get avisynth, huffyuv(codec)and virtualdubmod. all of them are free
your avisynth script should be directshowsource("filename.mov")
then open the script in virtualdubmod.
goto video>compression> and set it to huffyuv
now file>save
the result will be a lossless file that you can edit with
i could be wrong about aviynth being able to frameserve .mov. sorry if thats the case.
