ok, with my new job I'm making way over the cash flow i use to so i know i can spend some more on the luxes... i haven't had an mp3 player for a good 6-8 months now as i busted the screen on my old sandisk 512mb (oldschool....) i was looking at another sandisk mp3/photo/video player (8gb) and also looked over at the archos 504 with 40GB space... its only another 100 bucks... and its better for video... (i spend 2 much time sitting in my car in traffic or waiting for work to start (leave early, beat traffic, sit and wait for noise bylaws to be lifted for the day so i can start working)

it looks to be fairly good quality and i don't mind spending a bit of money for something that will last a bit I've fooled around with it a bit in the store and it seems fairly user friendly to change modes. it will be used as an mp3 player while at work (not really suppose to have radios, but its a bit relaxed then the regulations say they should be....) only thing i think its missing is an fm tuner...didn't see it in the overview listing but i may have overlooked it cant remember now...

anyone have one? or have an opinion on them?

Just curious, why the loyalty to sandisk? I would much rather reccomend an ipod or a zune. I have both, love them almost the same, but the Zune's still better imho. Never been a fan of sandisk, and the only thing about the archos 504 is that it's hugeeeee. the battery won't last long for video, and don't think about lugging it around in your pocket. Get a palmtop computer (see: vaio) if you want something to do that. Otherwise, i would reccoment steering away from sandisk, but it's your choice. I was very loyal to Creative for a while, just because my mp3 player from them (30 gig Zen Extra) lasted forever.... 4 years, and i submersed it in water 3 times (kyaking, swimming with it in my pocket, and left it out on a table when the sprinklers came on), and i droppped it numerous times, but I still have it and it still works, and the battery still lasts forever.

only reason its huge is the screen. the battery is suppose to last for over 5 hours or so on the built in lcd... i wont be needing it that much without a plug in of some type.
