Well I was talking with my mom the other day about possibly getting a ps3, and she said she would pay for half of it. Do you think thats a good idea?

And should i get the 20gb or the 60gb? Im really thinking I should get the 60gb.

What games do you want for it? I honestly can't think of any on it that won't be on the 360 that I really WANT to play.

I'd mainly hesitate to get one right now because of the whole Blu-Ray vs. HD-DVD format war. I'd hate to spend money on something that could end up a paper weight.

Isn't Wal*Mart only selling HD-DVD this Christmas too?

i agree with candianrcist a computer is the best, but if we are talking about consoles definatly the PS3. The problem with the XBOX is that since it is made by microsoft (who is just starting out in the conlsole buisness witch isnt good) has great programing since they work with computers but the material components like the servos and machanical parts are junk and break; Microsoft has even admitted it. And as far as the red ring of death it is a bunch of bull poo, because i have found that some of the different types of red ring of death activate when a games skip more than 20 times in all, and that can be corrected by yourself with much agrievation instead of sending it back many times (this happened to myself) and the PS3 could give a bob if the game skips or cuts out. The amount of memory is bsed on preference and how many games your going to have.

Games like Need for Speed: Prostreet and Gran Turismo 5: Prologue are two games that would make me get a PS3. Those two along with Mercenaries 2 for those odd days I feel like blow the snot outta stuff.

As for the hard drive rating, all I can tell you is get the amount you know you'll use. Yeah, having more than you need is nice, but 20 sounds like it would work just as well (and be cheaper). Now if the 60 is like $40-$50 more, spring for the 60, since you'd be getting more for your money.

Just to add another ingredient into the pot. The Blu-Ray VS. HD-DVD war is over.......Blu-Ray has won this round so getting a PS3 just for the Blu-Ray capabilities is worth it.

You're actually saving money if you get the PS3 and use it for the Blu-Ray capabilities. I think it's something like $400 you save over a purpose built Blu-Ray player.

Guess what? I have a 360. I enjoy COD4, & Halo 3.

Lol.

No RROD, or any other problems since December.

It breaks down like this.

If you want multiplayer, you will get a 360.

If you only want single player, or Gran Turismo 5 (if its released this century) ((Or blu-ray if your that way inclined), you will get a PS3.

No if's, and's or but's.

(Yes I know PS3 can do multiplayer, but it is horrendous compared to Live.. and not worth it at all, just like the 360's HD drive is no use compared to a Blu-ray drive)

And if you don't want either of those systems and have parties all the time, get a Wii. :D

Just to point out, Gran Turismo 5 has been out since the 16th. Once my funds build back up again, a new PS3 and GT5 are in my near future!

EDIT:: Alright, I feel the dufus, didn't realize that Prologue was just a demo of it. But hey, the full game is slated for next year!

They reckon it will be out then... they have pushed the release date back literally years.

It all depends on what you think and had good quality with. I hate 360 but my unkle loves it cause he babies it and nothing happens me, I have had nothing but trouble with them so am less declined to get one. And I also found that if you practice and are good with a PS3 multiplayer is awsome, but if you just picked up your friends remote and played multiplayer it will be hard and not seem worth the trouble.:ninja:

9 years of experience? Your 15 lol. How can you talk about preference? Wouldn't you have just played what your parents bought you at that age? I know thats what I did (SNES FTW)

But, by mulitplayer, I don't mean how good you are on each system. I mean the systems set in place, i.e PS3 network, vs Xbox Live.

XBOX Live is certainly the better system, however you must pay for it. PS3's system can work alright sometimes (usually not judging by all the complaints, particularly on COD4), and its free. I don't think anyone would pay for PS3
s current online system anyway, they'd have to improve it a lot.

"It can't compete with the options of number 4 anywhy so i don't even try"
I dont know what you mean by that either?

i beg to disagree, infact im on my ps3 typing this right now, the play station network is very reliable and granted smaller, but more relaxed, on RFOM u know virtually every1 who plays, not on a personal level but to the point that u can say "hay i saw that kid b4". on larger games like CoD4 its a hole other story. so yeah play station network IS better and FREE,
PS. wii stinks, i have 1 of those as well

What's the point of replying to this thread?

Its all on personal preference. The games that are coming out wont necessarily sway anybody into picking one system, considering a lot of people that are looking into getting these have no idea what any of the good games are anyways.
