Ok, on my main computer, I am having problems. It is saying WSOCK32.dll cannot be found when I try and start AOL, firefox, and other misc internet related programs. It will not go on the internet, but I know it is connected because I can still download files on limewire. I also tried to system restore, but when I click next on the third screen, it will not move on to the next step. What is wrong with my computer!!

THE SIMPLE SOLUTION

If you are not an experienced computer user, or if you don't know which system files are missing, you can attempt to correct the problem by reinstalling parts of Windows which depend on the missing system files. Windows should detect that files are missing, and update them with the newly reinstalled part.

The most commonly-missing file is wsock32.dll. It is the target of viruses (see Possible Causes), and may also be inadvertently uninstalled when you remove programs from your computer. To get wsock32.dll back to your computer, install Dial-up Networking (or reinstall, if it's already on your computer). To install Dial-up Networking, go to your Control Panel (on your Start menu) and choose "Add or Remove Programs." In the window that appears, select "Add/Remove Windows Components." Use the Details button to view any network-related items; make sure you have all TCP/IP components installed, and make sure to check Dial-up Networking. If they are all checked when you open the Control Panel, uncheck them, restart your computer, and then recheck them. This will install fresh copies for you. If your Tenebril product still does not run, please contact our Customer Services department. They will be happy to assist you. Doesnt work for me. When I go to the step where it says go to add/remove windows components, a error message pops up saying msmqocm.dll is missing.

Put in the Windows XP disk, then go into the repair console and write a new boot sector. (fixmbr and fixboot)

I"ll elaborate a little:
1. Put in the windows XP disk.
2. Restart your computer.
3. When the "Press any key to boot from CD" prompt come sup, press any key.
4. Wait for it to load, etc.
5. When it's done, press R to enter the repair console (or follow the instructions, yours might be different)
6. Once you're in the repair console, type fixmbr
7. After that, type fixboot
8. If that doesn't work, ditch whatever lousy virus protection you have and get NOD32. It willl repair the infected file.

That didnt work. I am trying the NOD32 scan. I've been using Mcafee.
