Totally untrue, I have seen great things come from macs. In fact the computer forum i visit often is full of computer nerds and they swear by mac. Amazing things can be done with a mac, no more or less of what a pc can do.
That guy totally contradicts himself when he says
"Ultimately the campaign's biggest flaw is that it perpetuates the notion that consumers somehow "define themselves" with the technology they choose. If you truly believe you need to pick a mobile phone that "says something" about your personality, don't bother. You don't have a personality. A mental illness, maybe - but not a personality."
Please tell me thats not EXACTLY what hes doing right there, hes tearing mac owners apart for liking, owning or even thinking of owning one.
toyota is way better than ford.

I'm not condoning nor condemning the use of macs, just posting an article that I found slightly redundant as you did. However, he is defining the Mac culture in the sentence that you describe. Most typical Mac users seek to "break free" from the supposedly user unfriendly environment of the PC. The main difference that seperates a Mac from a PC is not speed nor capability, it's availability. Sure, Mac's have final cut pro. But PC's have many different video editors (Sony Vegas, Adobe Premier, etc.) What I'm trying to say is you can use a mac if you want a more skimpy, but easier to use program selection, but you should use a PC if you want a better program selection, and you will most often (but definately NOT all the time) sacrifice a sliver of user friendliness. Every time I'm talking about computers with a friend, someone has to come and chime in "Well i'm on a mac I can do video editing!" To which I say "right click". Then they usually leave ;)
don't even get me started on macs+video
oh wait, too late. ima chargin mah rant
finalcut pro is pretty slick. certainly more flexable than premiere.
what about motion graphics and compositions though?
yes, there is after effects on the mac, but it's buggy, crash prone, and runs noticably faster on PC.
mac does have a motion graphics program called "motion". it's decent, but not nearly as flexable as AE.
also , theres mac's dilema with codecs.
nobody is porting codec to mac. well, not editing codecs anyhow. mac can use h.264, divx, xvid. but those are all codecs used for final encodes of projects. you can't edit with those (not very well, at least).
mac is JUST NOW about to huffyuv. it's been on pc forever. and now huffyuv is finally becoming obsolete, and lagarith is taking over.
sorry apple. for video, call me when final cut supports avs scripting
i'm a cross platform user, btw. i'm not from either camp.
to touch on another thing, apple's latest ad has struck a nerve with me.
the one where they implied that your pc may not survive a vista upgrade.
true or not, it was in very poor taste, and bad ethics.

I really never liked Macs to begin with, I just had to throw out that i have seen good things come from them. Yes they do have a "user friendly" touch to them which i don't like, but thats just my opinion. I will stick with my pc's.

pc's ftw.. ive never liked macs, never have , never will. imho their over priced.
i wonder how many people who claim to not like macs, have actually used one in the past 5 years

I'd also like to hear some solid reasons why people say they hate them or can't stand them. I bet there are some pretty lame reasons floating around. Most people probably haven't even touched one (like Minion said), but they just jump on the bandwagon of Mac haters, just because they think it's "cool".
I'm not for or against them. I use a PC like everyday, so it's just what I'm used to. I have nothing against Macs though.

okay, their over priced, you can custom build one for half the price with the same or better stats.
we had them in school, slowest POS ive ever used, the crappy dells we have now are way faster.

Number one reason for me: Program availability. Way too many programs for PC that are really good aren't available for Mac.
Number two: The stock Mac SATA RAID setup: If you lose one HDD, you lose them all. I had a friend lose over 1.2 TB (yes terabytes) of photos that he has shot (he's a pro photographer)
Three: Gaming? What gaming? Oh that's right all you can play on a Mac is Halo.

Well, I'm fine with reasons from people who know a thing or two about computers and software, like penquinrusty and minion. It's the other people that know like nothing about computers that bug me. They can say Macs are stupid all day, but they have no good reasons to back them up.

This is the main problem.

1. I can boot into Windows.
2. User error. (heheh)
3. I can boot into Windows.
BTW I don't hate PCs. I use them every day. Each has their place. I'm just trying to clear up some myths. ;)
Oh and this is all coming from a lifetime Mac-user currently typing on a MacBook Pro. So I'm quite biased, lol.

I wish I could boot into stuff.....
up until the intel macs came out I didn't think you could dual boot (stable dual boot) a mac with windows.
A lady at my work brought me her mac to put some ram in it. Its a G4 iMac, the one that looks like a desk lamp. Well the thing a pain in the *** to get apart to put the ram in. I booted it up and played around with it. I wasn't impressed mouse was a pain to use, the hole theory behind how things are done is still weird.
with the way things are going for the windows side of life, I will be dual booting here in the near future windows and linux. Linux for the day to day stuff and xp for my engineering work and vid editing.
we had them in school, slowest POS ive ever used, the crappy dells we have now are way faster.
which is what leads me to believe you havn't actually used a mac.

Mac hasn't had anything i'd consider slow since the g3s.
and even those wouldn't justify "the slowest pos i've ever used".

to me they were slow, thats prolly because they were school computers. only thing ive used that is slower is a 90's pc (dont know the brand, ) on dial up.
