I am running a MSI MB at the moment and I want to overclock but I can't go very high because I can't adjust the CPU voltage.I need some ideas on a good overclocking MB.BTW,I am running a dual core AMD 64..
Thanks,
Mark

Is the option greyed out? If so, just poke around the bios for osmething that says "vcore" or something like that. As for overclocking motherboards, DFI hands down. Do you have a skt. 929 or AM2?

I don't even see anything in the bios to adjust the voltage..I have the AM2 socket..

There has to be something.

I just checked the bios again and I found nothing..
Was the system a custom build, or is it an OEM box? If its the latter, you won't find anything like that in the bios.
You should still be able to squeeze another 200Mhz or so out of it just playing with the FSB without touching the vcore.

I did that with the 3500 i had a while ago (have a 4400 x2 and a core2duo 6400 now) and the system became super unstable after just 150mhz and would randomly restart. The vCore is a must for OC'ing.
Do you remember which core revision it was? I have a 3400 Venice, and it goes up to 2400Mhz - 200Mhz boost or effectively jumping to 3700 speeds IIRC, with no stability problems just adjusting the FSB from within the OS without any voltage adjustments. Passes an 8 hour Prim95 stress test no problem.
Did you notice any real world difference going 3500 -> 4400x2? I was thinking of an AM2 4400 or thereabouts for my next upgrade cycle, but in stuff like games that don't make good use of multi-threading, the performance wouldn't be any better in theory?

nope. not a big difference.

I'll just have to buy a MB that I can adjust the core voltage..
