Whats up every one, just curious what all the capabilities are. Also how do you get on the internet? I picked up a used one for $120.

You can do a lot.
To use the net you need a wireless router that supports 802.11b. Suck as a Linksys WRT54G router. Also you can update your firmware to get more features and such. They are coming out with Firmware 3.0 which will support a GPS addon piece and a VoIP Camera. You can put music on it and put mp4 videos and watch them and stuff like that.

EDIT-- Check out my sig.

You can also get windows 95 for it.

Edit- 3 years ahead of myself.

ok so you DON'T have to have wipeout pure to get on line with it?

wipeout pure is the oooold method of doing it. stay on 1.5 if you have it though. if not, downgrade to it (if your version and motherboard allows it).
theres a port of the links browser from linux, and someones developing a firefox-like browser as well.
you really never need to buy a game. theres plenty of homebrew out there to keep you entertained. i love mine

I didn't really understand what you said, how exactly do I get on-line? I already bought wipe out pure, I googled PSP internet access and that seemed to be the only way. My PSP won't be here till friday but then I am going to need help how to set up internet access. Yes I have WI-FI.

if your psp arives with 2.0 firmware (the operating system) or higher, it will have a browser on it already.
most psps can now downgrade to 1.5 though. 1.5 allows you to play games and programs that people made for the psp, including emulators (a very nice n64 emu is out now)
if you really want higher firmware though, get devhook on 1.5 so you can launch higher firmwares without upgrading

How do I upgrade my firm ware and do all that? I gotta make sure my PSP works when it gets here before i do any thing obviously, I got it used.

Super Mario All-Stars here I come! Wow, now I have to decide, truck or PSP, truck or PSP..... Unless I can trade in enough games at Gamestop to buy a PSP for nothing!

SO if I want internet I have to have 2.0 but if I want an EMU then I have to have 1.5?

Minion

yes, and no.

with 1.5, you get everything.
because with 1.5, you can emulate the higher firmwares. thus, web browsing, and homebrew

They have made the firmware loaders better/more stable and now there is much less worry about bricking your PSP. I agree with Minion to stay at 1.5 and use the loaders and emulators for higher firmware stuff.

BTW- The URL is http://pspupdates.qj.net/

both urls work. it was originally psphacker.com (which also redirects you)

a firmware loader cannot brick your psp, as it does not write (or even read, for that matter) to your internal flash memory. it's all done through the memory stick.

downgrading is another story. the risk though is not much worst than upgrading your psp though. just don't turn off your psp while it's downgrading.
