Back when the loaders were being initially developed some would most definately brick it.

glad to see someone else here keeps up with psp homebrew as avidly as me :)

i think your right. i think i've heard that MPH's firmware launcher bricked some testers.

devhook is safe though. the only way i've seen that people have bricked on devhook, it trying to install a custom firmware while running an emulated firmware.

i'm waiting for a new analog module to come from ebay. the module on mine broke while i was playing the r8 version of the n64 emu on the night it was released.
(the actual module under the faceplate broke. not the nub)

I had 1.5 and played tons of homebrew games....mostly AOTM(fun game, you should try it). Then, to get internet, I upgraded to 2.0. Then, I downgraded back down to 1.5, played some more homebrew. Then, I forget why, I upgraded to the highest firmware.

I want to play homebrew again. I could use my psp as a remote for my tv.

Yes, I do like to keep a check on it ;). Although activity for the PSP homebrew community has slowed quite a bit. The loaders that were causing problems were MPH's and one of fanjita's I beleive. Anyhow, to give you an idea of how much homebrew I have, I have one 512 meg sandisk full and a 1 gig sandisk 27% full. :D:D

mannn the homebrew has been growing big time. they recently found an exploit that you can load certain .tiff images that can load certain homebrew. they decrypted 2.81 the new firmware that was dropped yesterday. my friend who has his 4 gb full of homebrew can download games and play them off the mem stick on his 1.5 and hold down the home button and switch back and forth from 1.5 to 2.8 to use the browser and such. so basically he has two firmwares. he also has changed his font on his psp, and he has a thing called UMDdumper where he can take off everythin thats on a umd to his memstick. also he has another hack that you can plug ur psp in via usb and put iso games on ur comp and stream them to your psp and play them. homebrew is gettin ridiculous. in a month you will be able to legally download ps1 games for the psp from sony. for other hacks and such hit up www.pspupdates.com

So yeah, got my PSP. Went 2.60>2.71.>1.50>2.00>1.50 I am now running a great SNES Emu and a nice (little slow, no sound) N64 Emu... Working on getting Devhook for 2.71 up and runnning so I can play NCAA 07..... But Super Mario Allstars on a handheld is heaven!

Typing this from devhook fw 2.71. Now I can play NCAA 07!

EDIT:
Back on PC...

that has sound o_O
goto the menu, then exit out. for some reason this puts it back to normal speed

I have Snes9xTYL 0.4.2me, runs perfectly fast with good sound. I have Daedalus R8 for N64 running slow with no sound, but Daedalus is still a work in progress... I ahve NesterJ NES Emulator 1.11 running good speed with sound, but I need better ROM's... I got DGEN for PSP V1.70 for Sega Genisis running fast with good sound. And finally DEVHOOK 0.44 running Firmware 2.71 as I already stated... :bling: I also used ThemePSP 1.2 to install the default blue theme from higher Firmwares onto 1.50... So basically in a few days I've taken a crash course on downgrading and homebrew on the PSP... ;) I think I forgot to mention the first PSP I bought had a bad (stuck) analog and cleaning it didn't fix it so I exchanged immediately and got to work on this one... Also Minion, way to stick it to that guy on the QJ forums about fixing the thumb stick! :rollin:

Not yet, but hopefully soon, and if something does come out I'd wait until it's updated enough to signifigantly lower the risk of bricking...

i hope vice city stories has another exploit

They updated the old GTA to fix it, so chances are no. If there is one, someone will find it, but doubtful... :(
