How do I lower my Ping?

Every time I try playing a game online, the ping is always mid 300-400. It doesn't matter what I try, nothing works. It's getting to the point where I can't play online because I keep getting kicked for a high ping. Is it even possible to lower the ping?

Well, you can always ping mask, but that's hacking (and it still makes you and others lag) The only way is to get faster 'net. You have 56k I presume?

Get cable or DSL.

That's the problem, I have DSL. It only started doing it mid last week.

File Sharing, other computers on your network, viruses, hacking, etc. will lower your internet's speed. Try connecting to different servers in your game.

CoD and BF2 are the only one's I have played so far.

It doesn't seem to matter what server I join, It is always high. Would spyware/adware cause this problem?

Yes. Also, if you have a wireless/wired network, other people on your network will slow your internet down. Also, if you're downloading or file sharing while playing, that makes your ping go sky-high. Also, if the server you join has bunches o' people in it or is in a different country that will make your ping go way high.

Yes, cut off any kind of filesharing program. While I was playing my favorite game online (Descent 3). I was getting anywhere from 900-13000 pings when my dad was filesharing on his computer. LOL.
