need help....file recovery

well last night i was a dumb*** and lost some files i really need. various pictures, pdf's, word doc's, etc. any suggestions for trying to recover them? system restore aint replacing them. i really need some help. i lost them in the process of making a back up of them just incase i had this problem.:o

I think Norton Disk recovery can do it, or you can do it in the Dos prompt but i forget how.

dont have norton. this sucks butt!!!! i know there still on the HD but the file table thingy cant see tham cause recycle bin takes out one letter in the name. .jpeg is now somewhere as .peg

wanna kick myself for doing something so stupid.

sad thing is i put in a 6gb hd to back those files up on just for the reason that i can mess up and loose them.....so as im trying to save myself a headake i create one:mad:

don't dowload anything unless you need it (like file recovery programs).
when you delete something, it's not gone.yet anyways.
by deleting a file, you're just telling your computer it's ok to write over this space.
never had to recover files myself, but may wanna try download.com for file recovery programs
