Ok, there was enough animosity brewing in other threads to spin this topic off into its own. The question is, which is better for gaming, PC's or consoles?

Have fun  (Just stay away from the personal attacks and other things that break the rules (http://www.ultimaterc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1923), eh?)

I think that PC's will always rule the gaming world. They have much better graphics andprocessing power that any console out there (Yes, even the PS3 and X-Box 360), you can do pretty much anything with a PC, you can overclock a PC, and you can upgrade your PC. All you can do with an x-box is play games and watch movies and maybe some other things. Also, can you have dual graphics cards or even dual processors in your game system?

I love my computer (an alienware) and my 360 (which can have dual graphics cards and dual processors), but the compy will always have the advantage, just more powerful, and it can do more.

I just dont like playing games on computer. Im a big console fan. I like bigger screens also so thats pry why. Another thing is I hate with a passion mouse and keyboard for all games. Ive been playing with a controller for so long im a ton better with it.

Pc's have the advantage in all the specs, but consoles are way more fun. Plus, look at all you get for the PS3 and its only in the 300-400$ The graphics card alone in the ps3 costs 4-500$ so I think my vote is for the consoles. GT4

Computers are better in almost every way but consoles are more portable and I love the controllers. Idk, but something's weird about playing on a computer. Anyways, console>computer.

As far as controllers go there is a much bigger and better range of controllers for computers. I own 6 different PC controllers some old, some new. They all are different and have advantages and disadvantages but I still would use any of them over a PS2 controller or any other console controller.

yes the ps3 has 2, priced at 500 each. i guess computers are ok,but i think using an actual system is more fun .

When will the fun ever stop??

The PS3 and Xbox360 might have impressive specs on paper, but they fail to mention the core architecture in either the Cpu or Gpu. For what I've read on more technical websites, the cores are pretty slow and have bugger all to them versus modern PC components. So, everyone (Mr and Mrs Non-technicalhead) see "cool" features but get squat new technology.

There I said it...

I prefer keyboard and mouse gaming over console controls. Its just too easy when u've been playing that way for years. On a side note, can anyone from console land tell me how you'd get Battlefield2 or FEAR to run on a console...at all? Graphics: Console dies from severe butt-wooping gfx. Controls: Console hasnt got enuff. Portability: Computers go to lanparties all the time, and you have to lug along your monitor dont forget. HOW IN HELL DO YOU TAKE A XX centimetre HDTV ANYWHERE WITHOUT A TRUCK??

HOW IN HELL DO YOU TAKE A XX centimetre HDTV ANYWHERE WITHOUT A TRUCK??You don't, you just bring the console or you could buy one of those screend that plug into your system if it's a newer system.

Link me to the dual graphics cards/processors...I would really like to see that. And computers will always just look way cooler...Let's see you get cold cathodes in your game system!

You don't, you just bring the console or you could buy one of those screend that plug into your system if it's a newer system. Yes, of course. Everyone loves playing games on a tiny 3 inch screen.

Yes, of course. Everyone loves playing games on a tiny 3 inch screen5" What's wrong with a tiny screen? I remember loving the tiny 1.5" or so screen on my Gameboy Color.

So you LIKE playing games on a really small screen? Just a little while ago you console guys were bragging about your 50 inch HDTV's.

ha size matters...

annnyways, there will always be PC gamers, there will always be console gamers. eventually, consoles will catch up with pc's and the decision will be completely opinion. im used to the circle/square/X/triangle myself. i have been and always will be a playstation guy.

The only console I have ever owned is Nintendo 64. I play computer games a lot. I can't stand controllers like the XBOX controller. The mouse and keyboard is a much more natural feel for me. I would rather spend money on my computer and make it better than spend money on a console. Right now, I have 3 computers of my own. My dad has 2. My sister has 1 and a laptop. All of our computers have been built up from replaced parts from mine and my dad's best computers. You can't do that with a console system! Also, I play on a 21" CRT, so the quality is good and I don't have to make up for it with a lower resolution - and I can sit closer since the details are there.

P.S. On Friday I got a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS for $20 after rebates ($130 original). It came with 5 games - FarCry, Halo, Call of Duty, Splinter Cell, and Theif Deadly Shadows. The games alone are worth more than $20! My old sound card (Sound Blaster Audigy) went into my garage computer. Now, can you do that with a console ;).

I prefer PC, mostly. Simply because I hate most of the game controllers out there, a PC is useful for more than just games/films, and you can upgrade a PC over time, and re-use the old components. Backward compatability over the last 10-15yrs on a pc is also a nice bonus. Most of the games I play are first person shooters or racing games/simulations. You *cannot* get a good racing sim for a console - there isn't the market, and even GT4 still feels arcade in comparison to some PC sims, plus until the Driving Force Pro wheel came out there wasn't a good wheel to use on console either. And I hate FPS games with anything other than a keyboard/mouse.

My last console was an N64, before that a NES. I will be purchasing a PS2 very shortly as there's some games you just can't get for pc, and are immensely more fun on console anyway (E.g. Burnout series, a few people sitting around a big TV on some sofa's with a game controller is a lot nicer than a few people standing around a desk).

As of now consoles cuz my comp cant run the games i want to. And im a huge RPG fan..and consoles support those alot more than pc. It all depends on the gaming i suppose. The rpgs on comps dont really have a set story line, they have quests and constant battle and stuff which is fun...but to me it needs a set story line to get into. But for RTS..pc's own consoles. Both consoles and pc's have some sweet FPS games out right now. Im not sure...i like both but for now..until i get a pc that i can run some games, ill have to go with console.

I got it at Fry's Electronics. Unfortunately, it was only a 1-day sale.
