Just curious if any among us actually got one of the these things for themselves (as opposed to immediately eBaying them or something to that effect). I've heard that some percentage of them are doing random core dumps, and some are even in permacrash mode

I read that a great deal of them are crashing continuously.........just shows it pays to wait and see if the bugs get worked out.

I got one a week ago (mad hook ups...don't ask) and I LOVE it. I don't have any problems yet, it is sick on a 60 incher HDTV, and I haven't stopped playin' the thing. Forget eBay, I like this system way to much to resell it.

"Sony also laid out the technical specs of the device. The PlayStation 3 will feature the much-vaunted Cell processor, which will run at 3.2GHz, giving the whole system 2 teraflops of overall performance. It will sport 256MB XDR main RAM at 3.2GHz, and it will have 256MB of GDDR VRAM at 700MHz.
Sony also unveiled the PS3's graphics chip, the RSX "Reality Synthesizer," which is based on Nvidia technology. The GPU will be capable of 128bit pixel precision and 1080p resolution--some of the highest HD resolution around. The RSX also has 512MB of graphics render memory and is capable of 100 billion shader operations and 51 billion dot products per second. It also has more than 300 million transistors, larger than any processor commercially available today. It will be manufactured using the 90nm process, with eight layers of metal. The RSX is more powerful than two GeForce 6800 Ultra video cards, which would cost roughly $1,000 total if purchased today."

Are you stupid? HDTV's are still lower resolutions than 19" crt and LCD monitors. What I'd like to see is a stupid console power games TO FULL GRAPHICS on a 19" LCD at 1600x1200. I bet it would chug...
Damn consoles, i dislike them for stealing good games that would be awesome on pc.

Two 6800 Ultra's don't cose over $1,000...Anyway, just one Geforce 7800GTX (About $500) is better than dual GEForce 6800's, anyways. And you can get procs that run way faster than the 3 ghz ps3...But, the question is, can you upgrade and/or overclock your x-box?

I dont buy anything like the 360 on the bay, don't think I will buy one. I'm still kicking around getting the first one but they still havent dropped in price enough for me yet.

3500 USD vs a 450 AUD 19" screen with better quality graphics and resolutions up close so it seems damn big.
I'd rather keep my WHOLE BANK ACCOUNT intact thanks...
