well I was having problems connecting too the internet so I restart my computer and all my internet driver's where gone for my cable modem so I turned it off and went too work. came home and tried too boot up my computer and it would not boot....... took the panel off the top and looked at every thing and the modem was loose so I pluged it back in and it booted till it tried to start windows, I was then informhat windows was corupted....WTH? I am guessing I got one mega bad virus. I did not even tuch my internet drivers and they got deleted. I am pissed too say the less and will have to stick with the lappy till my dad comes how with the windows cd's this week end.... :mad: :mad: :mad: :mad:

That, or your HDD went bad on you. This happened to my laptop about a month ago. A couple files randomly went missing, then I try and boot it and it tells me that the current installation of windows is corrupt. I tried reformating it, but it tells me that the disk is corrupt. If this happens to you, it is the HDD.

If it got to the windows loading screen (where the little blue goes across to show that it's loading) then it's not your hdd.

no I did not get too the windows loading screen it says a certain file of windows is corupted. and told me to inser the windows install disk and try and repair the file.

Slow HDD death or you got a virus. At work we just back up the docs/settings, restore the system and then replace the documents and settings.

are hard drive was like 400 bucks and is 160GB and is like top of the line crap. I *hope* we only have a virus. My dad is pissed at dell because he put extra ram in this lap top and the chip went bad and fooked up the computer and he called them about it and they said that that chip was not compatible with the chip he already had in it and could hav e done permenit damage to the motherbord, when some one from dell told him it would work fine with the laptop. we may have to get an IBM......

the only way to for sure make 100% sure that the HDD is screwed is to format it and see from there if it re occurs then your HDD is screwed if not, just a stupid virus
