Grr ps2 only plays certin games

Any of you have this problem? only plays games with the blue colored disc?
Man I just got Madden 2003 and cant play it, Then I start checking my other games. come to find out it will only play the ones with the blue colored data side disc's the goldish silver disc's all say disc read error. Grr man im frustrated with this system.

err, thats no good, mine reads them fine, do you have a warranty with the store, maybe the manufacturer's warrant may cover it because its deffective, i kinda had the same problem with my xbox i rented rallysport challenge and it never worked and when i looked at it it looked as if i were the first one to rent it, and about a week later i bought it used, it had a few small scratches but worked perfectly, and i noticed it was a slightly different colour.

mine has a problem similar to that cept it wont play the cd game( blue sided ones). all the dvds work fine.

Mine wont even play dvd's anymore, warranty is up so now I have too pay to have it fixed. according to sony's site its gonna cost me $89 dollars plus shipping grrr. Then wait 10 to 20 days untill I get it back.

I have heard from some other poeple that have had this problem that it is from useing rental games on your system the rental disc's have some kinda magnetic strip on them and they mess up your system. I dont know if this is true or not but once I get it back I wont rent anymore games.

yah it seems that allot of older ps2's have defects, i hope mine dosent mess up cause i got it 2 months after it came out, but i dont even use it too often really, it kinda sits in a duffle bac allong with my game cube, i dont know why i bought gamecube it is just a big doorstop for me, i only really use my xbox since i got it modded so now i am getting games for $4 <img src=http://www.nepthys.com/i/emoticons/set01/happy.gif ALT=":D">

Hav'nt heard of this befor, but I know for a fact that the first batch of PS2 in Europe would eat discs if you set it up on its side. The discs touched the tray and made markes on the disc makeing it unusable in 1-2 hours.

The Blue discs are thinner than the normal PS2 Game Discs. I called Sony and they offered to repair my PS2 for free even though it was out of warranty. I also found alittle mod on the on the ps2 hacking forums, place 2 pieces of scotch tape on the top of the disc along the very inside, so that the Ps2 can grab the disk. It played all the new games without a problem, but since then I sold the PS2 and bought a Xbox, man the Xbox kicks the PS2's AXX.
