Man.. You don't know how much you need a computer untill its gone... Right now im on my mom/sisters comp. Yeah, slow, if I even touch a setting, my sister will freak.. I cant do anything but msn, and I talked her into letting me on URC... Like seriously, she runs this damn comp.
I had my comp in my room, the Fan in the powersuply/Powerbox, locked up and stuff, then the mother board over heated or somthing.. So I got a new powerbox what ever you call it for free.
I need a motherboard... Can somone point me in a cheap/good direction for a mother board? New, or maybe used?
is the CPU ok or do you need a new chip too, If its ok what is it AMD/Intel so on. what type of RAM do you have. and last but no least how much coin are you wanting to drop.
I dont even know a word you just said...But the money... Enough? for a good, cheap thing.
He wants to know what kind of processor you have (socket type, brand). For example if you had a pentium 4, it would be Socket 700 something (can't remember off the top of my head...) and Intel. Different manufacturers use different socket types. Also, the memory type can make problems too. Most Mobos out there are now for P4/Athlon XP/64 or Sempron. I've heard Abit and Asus make good motherboards, check http://www.tigerdirect.com/ for more information on motherboards.

If you cant identify the basic computer components, we cant really help you...
Pop the machine down to a reputable computer store and have them fix your problems. Its the best thing to do in your case.
yup, unless you can tell us what you got we cant help.
If you don't feel comfortable tearing down your computer and transplanting the mem. sticks and what not then I wouldn't. Anyways, good luck replacing it if you choose so.
