First off, this paragraph only describes why I need what I do, skip to the second if you just want to help me. I built my current box to be a media machine and up to know I've primarily been doing music work with ProTools, and some photo rendering and editing and stuff. But this week I began my second major Mountain Bike video excursion. I'm importing at a very high resolution at 30fps, not quite lossless but it take A LOT of memory, we're talking a 60min. tape eats about 10GB. I have about 13 tapes of raw footage so I'll end up with arround 130-150 GB of video on my computer. Right now I have single 160GB drive but I would really like to add another, and here goes my dilema.

My old Moboard was not SATA compatible so my current HD is an IDE interface. If I want to add a secondary hard drive can I use a SATA interface, or will the SATA drive need to be my primary? Then I'd have to add another IDE drive. I'd like to use SATA simply because the buffer is about 4 times faster than IDE, and in the future SATA will become more of a standard and I'd like to have a HD that is SATA. Any help you guys can give me would be very much appreciated. My HD is getting eaten away! Ahhh!
