I had a friend of mine build my computer and just got it back yesterday to find he pinned the processor at about 1ghz. I have a AMD Barton 2500+ processor that is rated at a low speed of 1.83 Ghz and can be overcogged to well over 2. I need to figure out how to fix the setting so my processor runs right! Please help me out here. Anything is greatly appreciated.
First, ask your friend why it's set like that, and see if he'll adjust it for you. If he has no good reason for that speed, but won't change it, then:
1) print these instructions out
2) Restart your computer
3) Enter the BIOS (as your computer is starting, watch for a screen that says somthing like 'Press Del to enter SETUP')
4) You'll have to dig around a bit on this one; it varies for different motherboards:
Look for a screen that lists the FSB speed and the clock multiplier. These are the two settings that determine the clock speed of your computer. Without going into too much detail, the FSB speed times your clock multiplier equals your processor clock.
For instance, I have a PIII 600mhz. It uses a 100mhz FSB, with a 6x clock multiplier.
I'm not certain what your settings should be, I'm not familar with clocking computers in the ghz+ range (I've never had a reason to do so).
If you have a manual for your motherboard, it should also include instructions.

Hey thanks for the input, turns out that I had the BIOS set correctly but I have to Re-pin the processor on the motherboard, Oh well. All is fixed now and my machine feels like it's flying. Oh, If only I thought it would work this well for a long time....
