Click here to view the full version : looking for some drivers
i got a HP computer from a teacher at school a few weeks ago. screen tower printer few other things. i took the win98 OS off of it a loaded win98SE onto it. i got it working on 98se but now im in need of drivers. i knew i might have to go hunting for drivers but with my luck its the hardest drivers to find. the display adapter and sound is all onboard type. ive searchec for 2 days on the internet and all i have done is hit brick walls. no i did not get the suport CD's from the teacher. yes, i know the HP pavilion machines are a pain to find drivers and upgrade. if anyone know where i can get the drivers let me know...im at my wits end on where to find them. if worse comes to worse ill go buy a sound card and display adapter and SCREW that onboard stuff.

Dumb question but have you tried the hp website. Their should be drivers for almost everything that hp offers. If you cannot find anything you need trying doing a search on google. Try to be specific when searching to narrow down the results. Hope this helps you with your problem.

I would dig around on HP's site, they should have a section set aside for the older stuff.
if not get your model number and google it, wouldnt hurt to search for the chip set too.
depending what your doing with this machine, the qualiy of the current on-board stuff, and your current level of $$ , could be in your beni to just go and get a vid and sound card. save the pain of dig'n up the drivers
ive been to the HP site like 50 times in 2 days and the drivers im looking for they list for this machine dont exist. trying to find the drivers for the diaplay adapter and onboard sound cuz 16 color 600x480 res just down right sucks! ive been thinking about just disableing the display adapter and onboard sound and just get 2 cards. might try to borrow one from a friend to make sure i can run the display adapter. before i go out and buy one, as for the sound im gunna get a sound blaster 16 board from walmart for 18 bux....dont give me crap about it i have the same board in my computer right now and works just fine. all in all that computer is more less a little project i can do all my noob decisons on.

nothing wrong with that sound card, its what I have run for years on my game/lan rig, have a SB Live Platinum in my vid editing machine.
i know theres nothing wrong with it....just saying that to cover my rear. some ppl think its got to be the 200 dollar board is the best. meh...IMO on that.
