I was at Blockbuster to rent Guilty Gear XX, but my beloved import fighting game had been rented by someone else :( .
Instead, I decided to rent a game that I had my eye on for about a month. Way of the Samuai. I'm into Ninja and Samurai games, so I figured I would check it out.
Pretty much every action you do, and everything you say effects the game later on. You can be a good guy, a bad guy, or just run around and slay random people.
Fighting is hard at first, because you start out with very few attacks. You learn more techniques as you fight more.
Once you get used to the fighting, and learn some better attacks, the game gets alot easier. You can kill a dozen men without them landing one strike.
Different swords come with different fighting styles and attacks. You can't buy swords in this game. You have to kill an enemy, and take it from them. You can improve on them though. Take them to the sword smith, and he'll make it stronger, more powerfull, or make it defend better for the right price. You get money by taking it from dead bodys (takes forever), or just doing some jobs for the local crime familys.
Seems like a Meji era GTA, huh?
The game doesn't take long to beat. Maybe 3 hours. It has diferent endings too. When your done, you get to keep the swords you got, and use them again for another game. If you die or turn your game off though, you loose whatever extra swords you were using.
Fun game. Great When you need to pass some time. You can beat the game several times just renting it, so There isn't much point in buying it unless you get addicted to the fighting mode.
A good game to rent though. A-

Way of the Samurai 2 is supposed to be out right now too, so I might rent that and do a review on it too.
