First i got to point out there is no program or os that takes advantage of a 64 bit processor but if your willing to pay the money for it go ahead.

Microsoft has a beta out for 64 bit Windows.:) Everything will be going 64 bit not to far in the future, so when it does happen, I will have the right stuff to utilize 64 bit programs.:D Not only that, but I am not going to be buying another computer for quite some time.

A64s are able to run both 32 and 64 bit os's people, and in both the A64s seem to blitz intel's best with their low power consumption versus over 100watts (:o) of heat from intel prescotts.
Cooler, faster and better at gaming.
Very good choice on the vga card btw, you'll be playing all the latest game titles in style with good framerates!

I know that Amd64's can do 32 bit programs and os's, they wouldn't sell any if they didn't.
the prescotts just need a little time, at higher clocks they really jump up in preformance. IMO the northwoods are still the way to go unless you have a Watercooling setup and over clock them (on overclockers.com they tested it and a 3.8ghz NW matches a 3.4ghz Prescott) right now i have a williamette core and soon im going to buy a 1.8a northwood that does 3.1ghz on 1.625v easy.
I wish i could get the money to build a new computer. oh well mines fine for a little longer..

I bought a very similar system in December from Ibuypower, I got a FX-51 with a 9800xt. Good computers for a great price. But the WORST tech service. All outsourced to India, and they just read from a sheet. If you get a problem your stuck. To keep prices so low they use cheapest out sourced tech service they can find.
Two things to remeber if you have the money wait untill the end of the year and get that alienware system that can handle TWO video cards, intel first follewed by AMD early next year. And the 6800GT yes it's the best out right now for Doom 3 or pretty much any game it still CAN'T handle it at Ulta at 60fps for that you will need to wait for the 512mb video cards at the end of the year. Thats when I will be upgrading again. TWO 6800GT's with 512mb each! MU HA HA HA! I will be king! and broke, oh well.:p

Its A64 3800+ for me at the end of the year+a gig of ocz pc4200EL goodness. Thrash that frypan prescott.
Ans whos buying new LGA775 at all??? NOBODY thats who, coz they aint worth the money. Intel still stuck on the Mhz war which nobodies playing anymore....even Apple have recognised higher clocks isnt the way forward. This has been AMDs philosophy all along-prowess in efficiency and instrutions per cycle.
