Need help building 1st computer

He saying he guesses the price of SATA drives are comming down because last december he wanted 2 120gig hard drives to run a a raid setup.

Read up on raid and the different raid arrays.

Raid is a way of setting up two hard drives the same size to act a one big drive or have one mirror the other.

A 3.4 Intel would get own3d by any A64 and the 3200+ barton o/ced for less price actually. Might I suggest another Nforce2 board as that one isnt really high on features. Maybe the A7N8X-X from Asus or the NF7-S from Abit technologies. Bothe are cheaper and have the same or more features, and clock well! Steer clear of the SE vid cards also, they are about as der and are down a great deal on performance of the usual version. I would try and get a GF4 TI from somewhere. They should be dead cheap but have very good performance for an old chipset.

Words from the wise, Celerons are the biggest pieces of junk low performance cpus out there! If you want budget high performance, or top performance then there is no other option than Advanced Micro Devices. AMD forever u intel F4nb0y5.

Totally agree on the AMD VS. Intel situation. Seems to me that you are paying for the name with Pentium chips. If you don't believe me, just check out some sites that show the benchmark testing between the two companies.

And this computer is a great machine !!!!! I am a loyal AMD user and that is what I build all my computers with unless a customer asks for a Intel.

Yup. Ill be upgrading to a new K8-E (I THINK thats the model name) deluxe ASUS motherboard. AMD 64 3000+ with 1mb L2 cache and and 512mb of ram.....

Best socket 754 mobo atm is the DFI lanparty Nforce3. Crazy o/cs outta them, and KILLER memory bandwidth benchmarks. OWN4G3!

Oh I know....But Ive read of some other problems with DFI boards. Or their Infinity NFII nForce2 mobo...there was a capacitor...transitor...whatever...right next to the cpu socket and if you had a large heatsink and werent care, you could break it off.

Also memory slots problem. My friend got a NFII Infinity...and had it himself. Basically slot 3....doesnt work lol.

And it's stuff like that, that makes me not want to buy any new products cause I dont want to have to deal with that kinda crap, and have to wait for a new one to be sent to me and all.
