How to make a color picture Black and White?

I have photoshop 7 and i can't find how to make a picture black and white... if anyone knows please share the knowledge! Thanks

Open the picture, if you have different layers, make sure the layer you want to do it to is selected. On the menu bar, go to Image, then Mode, and select Grayscale. It will ask if you want to discard color information. select "OK" and it will be black and white.
