Remember that problem ND4 had? It's something similar, since he can't open ALT-CTRL-DEL. I'm having him do a virus and adware scan. He'll report the results.

Based on what he's told me, the main problem is that its extremely slow. I don't know if it has stability issues.

Has he defragmented it lately? That has seemed to cure all slowness that I ever usually have.

Could be the registry! They do get cluttered over time and a result is very sluggish performance.

Open up run and type "regedit" then click run. It will pull up a registry menu that will contain a long list(more than likely) of things on the registry, i.e.- old programs installation files, hardware driver id files, and etc. You should only delete something from here if you know what you are doing! If you delete the wrong thing then your computer will cease to work properly or at all. If you do know a little about it then look for file & program names that you recognize and delete them if they are no longer needed. The other way of doing this is to download RegSupreme (http://download.com.com/3000-2086-10225989.html?tag=lst-0-4) and follow the on-screen menu. It's the best registry software out there IMO and it does a good job. Once you have cleaned up the registry then you should have a vey noticeable increase in speed and stability. Hope this helps!

If you don't have much on it and you wouldn't mind losing some stuff backup the important stuff on a Cd-R/RW and reformat. Thats the simplest way to get the computer goin better.

yup, reformat fixes everything.
For cleaning the registry without reformatiin purchase System Mechanic from your local computer store. it runs about $35-$40 and will fix your registry along with a TON of other useful things. if spyware is to blame go to http://security.kolla.de and download Spybot Search & Destroy.
