Hows this, i jut got an injection of $ and ive gone out of my mind....
Athlon xp 2500+ (Barton)
1024mb Corsair Twinx 3200LL ram
Abit NF7-S v2.0
3 Antec LED 80mm fans
Im hoping i can get the 1.833ghz 2500+ to 210x11 frontside bus (stock is 166x11). Lots of ppl have got it, so im making a point of overclocking it to its max potential.
Comp should run sick now :bling: and beat up those Intel suckers hahahaha

Yea! Go AMD! That's a great setup you've got there. Good luck with the overclocking.
thats the same setup i have.0]
If I were you, I wouldnt risk the overclocking.. If it over-heats and damages, thats like 150 dollars down the drain.. But its your call.

Ive seen it go to my 210 frontside bus aim, and is fully stable at 1.8 volts. Those of u wondering if it'd overheat or be unstable...Bah! :p I have some pretty decent aircooling, and it doesn get over 48 degrees. Runs very well. Im a happy man :D

You could get a much faster P4 for the same price...overclock it to 4.2ghz.. I'm glad AMD is around though since it makes Intel have low prices.

Much faster is it? I dont think so buddy! Now, i suppose you believe all the intel hype that raw Mhz is the only thing to look at...not so. AMD XP processors run lower Mhz because they dont have to be super fast to outperform P4s! This is because they have 8 or more functions per Hz than the P4's 6. Raw Mhz means crud all mate. A64s are 12 hehe.
Theres somethin for ur :rollin:
No cursing allowed! Masked or not, thank you for understanding.

If Intel didn't let them use the x86 architecture there would be no AMD. I like the AMD 64 cpu though. I shoulda remembered AMD people are like Mac people...P4's have higher FSB, Clock Speed, L1 and L2 cache.. The P4 is about equal in gaming but better in video editing/rendering...

But an Opteron or A64 system beats out any intel platform atm at anything.

i just bought a simiar set-up but i bought the 2600+:p
i was under the impression that you had to do somthing physically to the chip so that it would let you over clock it, i don't think it's as simple as changing the CMOS setting or what ever.

Some motherboards are better for overclocking than others. The bios on many Asus motherboards allow you to adjust the voltage to the cpu and memory to raise the clock speed. http://www.neoseeker.com has good reviews on motherboards more suited to overclocking.
P.S. I hear Intel is working on 64 bit cpu's...

They already have one, but its real expensive, and the A64 is as good anyways and costs alot less.

that is a nice setup you've got going there

Thanks! I have found that i maxed out at 211FSB at a voltage of 1.8, which is very reasonable. Runs ram timings of 2,2,3,6 and the cpu maxes temp wise at 48 under full load. The whole rig is totally stable as tested with prime95.

Here is the evidence, but i really wanted an unlocked chip for 2500mhz, i know my gear can handle it. To view please put the address in the location bar, as only overclockers australia forums are allowed the links (of which im a member, join too if u wish!)
