Well wednsday night my dad had to take my docking station back so I lost the internet. But he said he had a new tower coming in... Well last night from about 7 to 12:30 at night we installed XP on it and set everything up. This rules. Its a Dell OPTIPLEX GX270. It has a P4 at 2.6 GHz. 512 MB of Ram with another stick of 512 on the way... It has a NVIDA GeForce4 MX with AGP8X. For sound it has a Creative SB Live! Series (WDM). With that sound card I was able to utilize the 5.1 surround sound on my 5 speaker sound system in here. Now Madden 2004 crapped out on my lap top, but I dont think we'll have any problems now... Also I got a new flat screen 17" moniter and a small 2.0 USB Hub. The only problem was when I was cleaning my desk to make room for it all my neon martini glass fell off my TV....

Well, you've got a nice setup there  , except that it's a Dell, and I kinda don't like em 'cause their expensive.. but that's just me :p . Oh and that video card.. the Gf4 MX... which one exactly? 420, 440 or 460 or something newer? The 460 is the best from those 3, which I use, but mine is not the 8xAGP though, so I dunno if your's maybe better . BUT I would suggest against an MX version (V6 family sedan...) all together if you can get a Ti4200-Ti4600 version (Porsche 911...) instead. I have Ti4200 8xAGP w/ 128MB DDR ram, and the performance difference is obvious. But I think with your setup (2.x GHZ), you can get by with a slightly under powered MX....

I got what I got an I got it cheap, daaaang cheap. I have sources... So whats in there is in there. As soon as everything is installed we are going to hyperthread. That should be exciting, as long as it doesnt screw up any of my programs...

Hyperthreading isn't that great, studies show. Its helpful with rendering, but not much else. Don't expect a huge speed increase. Sometimes, it even decreases the speed.

I dont expect speed increase. I expect help with Folding: folding.stanford.edu and rendering in Maden 2004

T14200=family sedan now, and MX440= a bus in vga power today. Now, a raddy 9800XT is the nismo or farrari or watever. I prefer o think of it as a FORD Falcon GT-P (www.fpv.com.au). U yanks have got nothin compared to these beuties, and the 70's ones were greater still :p
