FYI, for 3d PC games, like Unreal Tournament and Tribes and such, stick to your ol' mouse / keyboard. Unless you wanna make it feel like a "console" game (console-lame :p ) and get owned by the gaming nerds in Multiplayer mode (like me and a real owner, my li'l bro).
BTW for PC games, I used to play 1nsane, and Need 4 Speed games (Hot Pursuit etc.) and F-18 Hornet 3.0 and Janes F18 with a (serial connector) Saitek Cyborg(?) joystick, and then I got a 10-button dual analogue-stick 3DFX HammerHead controller (serial connector) for the twitchy games (1nsane, Need 4 Speed again), best controller I have owned, never used the rumble feature...slowed games down, and now I have another USB controller w/ 9 buttons (it has 2 less buttons on the top part for the index fingers, but has a "start" button). Can't remember it's name.
Yeah exactly what he said. Mouse & keyboard mostly, Saitek joysticks where appropriate (flight/space sims especially).

I know it mainly my bro who uses the controller I only use it for racing games to get a more proportional feel...besides, I like my old arrow keys, lol
