I always set my homepage as URC. I log off, come back on and it is changed to res://mshp.dll/index.html#22776 I search for the mshp.dll file and I find it. Does anyone know what this file is? I tried to delete it once, but it fails. How do I delete it?
Thanks

It might be a spyware or some other thing causing that page to load. HOWEVER, I don't know what that file is for, so deleting it may not be safe unless you know what you are doing.
Try using Ad-aware by Lavasoft, it cleans out most spyware/porno files from your harddrive. This program's a necessity nowadays really if you use the internet.

How did I get it

Get what? If you mean spyware, well that's just little software stuff that installs / downloads itself onto your computer when ever you go to different websites / download programs. Then it runs depending on when it's programmed to, and does things like making your start home page mess up and go to a porn site or something.
If you're asking about Ad-Aware, then just do a search on Google for it, or go to http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/ and download the program from one of the links.

I get a pop up once and a while that says that my Pc might be running slower due to it being infected by spyware or adware. I thought it was supposed to take it away, not re-infect it? This is why I hate computers!

Well, don't trust any pop-ups. Most of the the stuff they claim to "clean up" will be replaced with their own crap. MY dad clicked on a pop-up about water-motion screen savers, and instead he got crap load of x-rated crap installed on his desktop and hidden registery enteries. Took me a while to get rid of it too. Just use the program I referred you to. It does a good enough job for me. Another thing is, back up all your files and documents, and wipe your hard drive, and re-install your operating system and software for a fresh start, along with Ad Aware or similar software to keep it from bogging down again.
I have an announcement to make: NEVER believe ANY pop-ups that appear unless they're from an actual program like Norton or McAfee. If it pops ub while you're browsing the web and tells you it can delete stuff and clean your computer, it's wrong.
I only say this because wayyy too many people are fooled by pop-up ads that look like system alerts. If it's in an Internet Explorer window, it isn't real.

*rite click* internet explorer on your desktop.
popup menu will show
click on propertie
another popup menu
under the homepage change
change it to say www.google.com or www.yahoo.com or www.msn.com
reboot..should fix it..i've had that happen to me, my cuzzie and even my sister laptop..this fix it most of the time..
Yes it is spyware, I also suggest Ad-Ware, but make sure you click the Web Update button to update the database of spyware.
If you are running XP, either one, go to Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services, Messenger and disable it. This will not get rid of all of it but it may help control it, depending on what you are getting. Disabling it does not effect MSN Messenger.
