I heard from someone that you can put your computer keyboard in a dishwasher to clean it and it won't hurt anything. Is this true?
Uhhhh, I would not do this!! It's too easy to clean keyboards the safe way... remove the 5 or 6 screws from the back, take the pad & template sheet out, and blow everything off and wipe clean the clicky-pads with a damp, lint-free cloth wet with either warm watter or rubbing alcohol.

Yeah, I didn't think it was a good idea either, just seeing if anyoine else had heard of this.
haha, sounds like something i would do...i think that would ruin the keyboard for sure....

I have done this many times before. It seems outlandish, but it's suprising how well it works. I've done it to all the keyboards I own and had never had a problem. I am typing this on one of those keyboards.
Instructions:
1. Place keyboard in the top rack of your dishwasher with the keys facing down. Make sure the cord is secured.
2. Set your dishwasher to gentle cycle or low-temperature and start the cycle. Go ahead and use detergent.
3. Once it is done, place keyboard in oven. Turn oven temperature to "Warm" or as low as it will go. Let it bake for about 3 hours, and then you're done.
Go ahead and do it! It works very well. Make sure the keyboard is completely dry before you use it though.
This is got to be a joke. No way I would do that. I open mine blow it out and I use denatured alcohol. (it the closest thing to me with out getting up)
I have buddies who clean their keyboards this way and they all say it works just fine. I've never done it because I use a Gyration wireless keyboard and I think it would kill it. If you're using a $15 cheap-o, then go ahead and try it out. Also, I would make sure that the keyboard is the only item in the dishwasher, as you don't need food particles under your keys, and you could probably just let it air dry overnight instead of putting it in the oven.

Wow! I didn't think it would actually work. I may have to try that one time. I only spent like a $1.50 on it anyway at america's thrift store.:rollin:

It really does work. Wrap the cord in some sort of plastic bag (I use a Ziploc bag and a few rubber bands) and place on the TOP shelf of the dishwasher facing down. Run the washing machine on it's softest, lowest temp setting. Once it's done, take it out and use an air compressor to blow all the water out from under the keys. Let the keyboard dry overnight, and you're gravy. *I do not take responsibility for any damage you cause*

I'm saying if someone turns it on "Pots and Pans/Heavy load" and melts the keyboard, I can't be held responsible. :)
