XP and Norton AntiVirus

Is anyone else having a problem with running Norton AntiVirus 2004 on an XP Pro system? The Auto-Protect will not start when the computer boots. If I try and start it maunally through the control panel I get the error:
Error: "Norton AntiVirus has encountered an internal program error" (4002,517)
I've gone through all the articles on the symmantec site, but no dice.
