Since I completely upgrading my computer (http://www.ultimaterc.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=21037), things haved seemed a bit faster, but not remarkably so. After I first got my core applications installed on the new harddrive, I went out onto the 'net to download driver updates & such (as I was using the XP defaults). Included in these updates was a bios & chipset upgrade. Unfortunately I forgot to re-configure CMOS after this.
A couple of days ago I re-installed Command & Conquer: Generals and tried it out, and was disappointed to see that it was the same speed as before I more than doubled my CPU speed and went from a GeForce2 GTS to a GeForce 5700 Ultra. The screen scrolled around faster, but unit movement was still a bit sluggish. Well, last night when I turned on the computer, I saw a funny number on the BIOS-written startup screen. It said 500. I wasn't aware of anything "500" on my system, so I went into BIOS setup to check it out. The CPU was running at the default clock rate, 500mhz
I bumped it up to what it's supposed to be and needless to say, big difference
