Digital Camera to Computer?

I got a digital camera for christmas (panasonic lumix, really nice lens and features) and I know how to plug everything up but when it comes to putting the pictures on the computer (tranferring) I dont know how to do it? Do I need a program? Will someone give me kind of a walkthrough please?

What operating system do you have? Some operating systems are much easier to use when it comes to digital photography.

You probably won't need a program. But did the camera come with any software? That's usually the best solution for importing.

WinXP has the utilities to get the pictures off of your camera if you go to the "my pictures" folder. If you can, set the camera to PTP mode instead of storage device mode and you won't get the annoying "safe to unplug your hardware" message.

Thanks for the suggestions! I did get software that has airsoft and some other items. Let me take a quick look and I will post all of what it has.
