I have never had a serious problem with it. Sure, it's no XP, but people complain about it freezing all the time, which is doesn't. Compared to 98 (in my experience), ME is the perfect operating system. Yes, that's exaggerating, but I'm just trying to say that I have no reason to hate ME, since it has served me well for over 2 years, and has never frozen.

You're one of the lucky few. ME was more crashprone than 98se. Even though it had some cool features, I never saw a stable ME system. For the record, I have been supporting Windows computers since the first version of Win95 and saw my share.

I switched from 98se to Win2k for stability both at home and work when 2k came out. I then dual booted between them both as Win2k had some issues with some games I used to play. I switched to XP a few months after it came out and have never looked back.

Win XP Pro has crashed once. And that was because I was running on 64 megs of crappy RAM with about 15 programs open. Since I've upgraded to 384, nothing has beaten it. XP Home has bitten it a few times, but much less than 98 and much MUCH less than the Me computers I've worked with. Honestly, I have no idea why your computer still rums.

WinME was pretty much the least stable and most buggy major release of an OS from Microsoft ever.

If you have no problems with it, they you must never power your computer on.

Ahhhhh the dreaded precursor to Win3.1 and Windows for workgroups. Only played with it later, just to get a feel for what the current systems are based on (you'd be surprised how many features we still use were in place). Figuring out keyboard shortcuts and no mouse admin tools helped me as a WinNT 4 and 2k server admin.

Sometime after Spring break this year me ME messed up pretty bad. I had the reset my computer. I've had ME since it came out, and that was the first time I had any problems with it.
Also, now I get an error sometimes when I shut down my computer. I didn't have this problem before I had to reset.

My fav two version of windows are WinXP and WFW 3.11. Win95 was cool but it was way too obvious that Win3x was contributing bugs to it.

Based on all of your opinions, I must just be lucky. And it's not like my hardware is helping at all. I have an Emachines with 256mb RAM.

I havn't heard that, so I would assume it's just as easy as any computer. You might be thinking of XP. It had a problem with hacking when it was first released, but they released a patch to fix it.

You don't know how lucky you are, because that is quite possibly the worst combination ever. Have you used your PC more than 3 times since you got it?

Hey I have an Emachines that came with 256MB ram, which I upgraded to 512, Win XP (1.4 GHZ Athlon). Haven't had a problem since I bought the PC last year, and believe me, I've used it more than 3 times. It's had its share of viruses and WinXP re-installs (stupid spyware & voodoo5 driver problems), but it wasn't due to hardware problems.

Sorry, I assumed that you had Windows ME installed. I've never heard anything about Windows XP on an EMachines.

I hate EMachines with a passion, just so everyone knows. :)

Everyone has their own opinion about ME and all Windows OS systems. Some say ME is the buggiest, some say Windows NT stuff was the worst, some even combined their least favorites to make CE+ME+NT=CEMENT -- Hard as a rock, dumb as a brick. But, I think that we all can agree that MACINTOSH SUCKS.

I don't care what you say, Macintosh sucks. You say they are better for graphics, but really the only thing that is better is all that extremely exspensive software that you can a get PC equvilent of. They say their Mac G5* processor is the fastest. BS!

*- They forgot to mention they were using a TWIN Mac G5 Processor setup, and they were comparing to twin Xeon processors setup and a single 3.0GHZ P4 setup. They forgot to test against the twin P4 3.2GHZ machines, and the single or twin (either way is better) AMD Athlon 64 FX-51 setups... or did they? :devious:

I use it for at least 2 hours a day, for a year and a half.
