I am a very absent-minded person, and the last time that I put oil in my car, I forgot to put the cap back on. Of course I took off not realizing what I had done (I think that the fumes are finally getting to me), but today my car wouldn't start because of a loose wire, so I popped the hood and the second thing that I noticed was that I had been driving for a week with no cap over the oil tank. I have never seen any for sale anywhere, and I was wondering if anybody could help me out by telling me where I could find one.

First off, you could tell us a make, model, and year. Then we could help you. Have you tried the dealer?

It's a '95 Geo Metro. I just found out about it right before I left for class, and have not had time to check at the dealer's. I was hoping that I would not have to go there because I have an unnatural fear of all automotive dealers for no apparent reason.

Try NAPA or Autozone or Carquest. They should all have one.
Pick one up at a bone yard, At the fraction of the cost.

GirlsRC2 is correct. Any autozone or pepboys should have an oil cap for your car. Did oil blow out all over everything in the engine bay? BTW, your car doesn't have an oil tank. The oil stays in the engine crankcase and oilpan. Just FYI.

I didn't fill it all the way with oil (or anything else for that matter), so I don't think that oil spilled anywhere, and class just got over with, so before my next class starts, I'm going to head out to AutoZone.
Edit: Ok, that's taken care of.

I hate bringing threads back from the grave, but I just thought of something while I was sitting in class. Earlier this year (I don't remember when), I finally took my car in for repairs. The mechanic popped the hood and I was standing at the side of the car. I looked in and saw something lodged in the corner that was labeled OIL. Guess what it was.

Of course. I had gone out and bought some piece of trash cap at AutoZone that never came off easily. I put the original back on because nothing beats stock Geo parts...

The other day I was in the local auto parts store. A lady comes in and asks for a seven ten cap. We all looked at each other and said, "What's a seven ten cap?"
She said, "You know, it's right on the engine. Mine got lost some how and I need a new one."
"What kind of a car is it on," they asked.
Now I'm thinking maybe an old Datsun Seven Ten, but no, she said its a Buick. "OK lady, how big is it?" She makes a circle with her hands about 3 1/2 inches in diameter. "What does it do?"
"I don't know, but its always been there."
One of us gave her a note pad and asked her if she could draw a picture of it. So she makes a circle about 3 1/2 inches in diameter and in the center she writes 710. The guys behind the counter are looking at it upside down as she writes it and they just fall down laughing hysterics.
One guy said, "I think you want an 'OIL' cap."
