I worked on an old junker NEC for a while, and finally gave up. I had 2 scsi drives the size of kansas I also found, and neither worked well. I almost had it running ms-dos, but I just gave up and trashed it cuz there was no hope for it.

I had a friend build mine. It has a sweet dark blue and grey case with big vents on the sides. I'm putting blue neons in it soon. I've also built a bunch a crappy win 2K computers, not sure what I put in them.
I did build several but I dont have what they had in them. One was mine for awhile, but now i have my laptop. And another one i did completely by myself is ny grandmothers.

I spent 2 months straight researching building computers. If I had the money, I would build one.

I always wanted to build my own computer , but then when my grandma got me a new dell computer then I forgot all about it.
I used to have 5 comps continuously running all over the house. Then hard times hit and I had to sell all but my own tower and the wife's laptop, but the cat-5 still runs from the den to the living room.
This was a while back. My tower is a Duron 600 with a Geforce 2 GTS.

I've done a lot of messing around with PCs. I don't really have anything fancy, because all of the parts were given to me when the previous owners moved on to newer and better things.
What I have now (the stuff worth mentioning, anyway):
HP PIII 600MHz motherboard
Integrated Matrox G200 graphics
Old IBM P50 monitor (bad colors, needs to be replaced)
Zip 100 drive (this is the only part I actually bought)
Right now, the thing is down, because it needs a new hard drive, and possibly a new power supply, too.

Heres the way me & my dad look at it. Why buy a new one when you can have a better one for about half the price. Computer shows rock for parts.

I've built 2 in my life so far, one when I was 10, the other around when I turned 14..
My first (Not even ATX!):
-*sigh* AMD K6-2 300MHz :(
-64mb ram, later upgraded to 196
-8mb ATI Rage Pro (pathetic)
-I don't really remember much more than that..
My second (On it right now, also ATX:)):
-AMD Athlon XP 1900 I think.. anyhoo, 1.25 GHz, downclocked to save heat
-MSI KT4V Mobo (K7)
-512mb RAM PC2100 I believe..
-ATI Radeon (Built by Saphire) 7000 64mb, soon to be replaced by a GeForce FX 5200 128mb:bling:
-24/10/40 CD/RW
-24x CD Drive, soon to be replaced by a 16x DVD
-Green Cold Cathode
-500-something watts of surround sound speakers
-That-Thats about it.. (Think Buba from Forest Gump when he finishes the shrimp list)
I built mine, but it's nothing special.
Motherboard: MSI...,that's all I can remember about it.
CPU: AMD Athlon-1.0 gig, 266 FSB
Video Card: 3D Prophet Kyro...which isn't compatible with some games.
Sound Card: Regular, old Soundblaster
HD: a 40gig and an 80gig
Drives: old 3.5 floppy and a CDRW
But here's the good part: I'm using my 50" Widescreen Samsung DLP HDTV as my monitor because it accepts the output straight from my video card!

I built mine over a year ago, so bear with me.
CPU: AMD AthlonXP 1600 (Clocked at 1 ghz because I am too cheap to buy some more fans
RAM: 384mb non-DDR because I am too cheap to upgrade
Video Card: 128mb ATI Radeon 8500se because I am still too cheap to upgrade
HD: 40 gig Western Digital that I bought 3 years ago when I wasn't as cheap
16x DVD drive
onboard sound on a motherboard that was cheap enough for me
400watt power supply in a Codegen case that was damaged in shipping, but I am too cheap to do anything about it.
crazyengine, how do you like you a7n8x i was thinking about getting one but was skeptical, oh and by the way do you use watercooling to cool of the overclock?;)

I built my desktop. Its a water cooled tower (but I havn't gotten the water blocks or pumps yet) with a AMD 2800 overclocked to 3100. 1gig ram. I don't use it much, I am waiting to get DSL installed into the room where it resides. Plus I don't like running my CPU that far overclocked without the water blocks installed yet (hopefully I'll get the water blocks, resivoirs, and pumps for christmas).

jdude, I love it but if you feel like spending a bit moroe money buy the deluxe version or the new ones that came out I forget what they are go on there website, no I do not use water cooling I wish I could but low on the funds. I just use a Vantec Aeroflow which runs about at 38 degrees C under load, which is good for me!
