ok, its large because you exported it uncompressed(without a specified codec) Now, uncompressed is the best quality you are going to get because, well, its not compressed! compression lowers video quality. Try downloading divx, from www.divx.com. Its free and its the most popular encoding format. For the audio leave it uncompressed, auio doesnt make up alot of the file size, so just leave it be. Once you download and install divx, export you video, and under the settings, choose divx as the format and your done! if you have anymore video editing questions ask me.

Adobe Premiere is a great program that you can do a great deal of stuff with. I have compressed it with Divx. Its is smaller but it is still to big to post on the boards... My video is a little under 3 mins and its 21.3mb compressed with divx. Are there any other ways to get it smaller? Please let me know. Thank you for your time.

you could also compress with mpg format. but what you guys really want, if youi ar posting it on urc or rcpics, encode it with wmv. I thought you were just asking about regualr video editing. If you want to encode it for showing it on the net, use windows media video, .wmv. Very small file sizes but video quality is not as good as .avi formatted or .mp2 and .mpg

What program do you think would be best to compress in WMV. I normally capture with Windows Movie Makers. Its the only program that doesn't crash my computer. Yes I know. I need a new computer. I'm planing on building one in about a month. thank you for your help!

windows movie maker is horrible, go download some software, and if you like it, buy it, or just keep it.

Yeah I know it is. I'm just to lazy to download other software. I'm half temped to go back to Linux. Most of there software is open-source. and plus they have some real powerful video editting programs.

not powerful at all. linux is a server os, video software on that is bad. If you using windows movie maker, than the software on your linux is just like windows, its not the software, its the editor, i can do alot of stuff in windows if you put it in front of me, i am to advanced for it though, thats why i use vegas, and i hate premiere, but for some reason i know alot about it. w/e.

yes Linux is a server operating system but you can use it for a lot of other stuff. I wouldn't be so sure about the software being junk. I was talking with my IST 321 professor and she uses the video software with Red Hat. She is telling me it is great. You can do so much with it. She tells me its better then Premiere. Linux is under rated. Its more powerful then people think.
