do you know if i can somehow disable the disk check thing, you know when you turnoff your computer wrong, it shows that blue screen, can i disable it? My ups (backup power supply) shut down for some reason, when i started up my comp, the blue system check thing appeared but there was no prorgess, after an hour of waiting still now progress, please tell me how to disable it, the only way to get past it is to hit esc right when the screen turns blue, and thats a pain in the but. thanks for your time and help.
Go to the run menu and type in msconfig, there you should be able to find what is starting at boot up and disable it there!
Let me know if this helps! :)
well, i tried that already, but i dont know if i can disable disk check or something like that, maybe someone who really knows alot bout windows can answer this question. Please :). I think it might be there under disk check or system check, but have no idea which check box it is so. I am defragmenting now, then gonna try a system restore, that out to dit it.
edit: oh yea, you never on msn man, get on! lol
A system restore might do the trick! What your comp. is doing is a disk check, thats why you get the blue screen.
sad news, sys resore didnt complete because the computer was shutdown improperly. THIS SUCKS. TechTV better have some answers. The Screensavers! i am gonna try and call in.
Try restarting it in safe mode!
i forgot how to do that. but after that, then wut, how do i restart in safe node?
after safe mode wut next?

To restart in safe mode you need turn off your comp. and turn it back on. Then what should happen is it will prompt a screen saying that windows has been shut down improperly. You will have choices near the bottom of the screen, just use your arrow buttons to pick "startup in safe mode"! Once you have picked that just hit enter!
well, that would have shown up already dont you think, cant i restart it in safe mode from the control pannel?

depends on your OS! What kind of operating system do you have?

for Windows 9x, ME, 2000 and XP to start in safe mode, press f8 repeatedly as soon as you think the BIOS screen will change to the "Starting Windows" screen. If you have a Sony (your name?...) you may never see this screen, so repeatedly striking the F8 key will be necessary as soon as you start the computer. If you see a keyboard error, hit the key it says to continue, then keep hitting F8 like it was a video game. At the startup options screen, select Safe mode.
Once started in safe mode if it's ME or XP, you can click Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, then select System Restore. Select at least one day prior to when you think the problem started. You will loose any data you have changed since then, but it may work.
If it's not ME or XP, then typing "MSCONFIG" from the Run command will give you startup options.
The "x" key on your keyboard is the exit/skip disk check key. Never under stood why it had a exit button at the bottom when you can't click on it.
