I've been getting pop-up adds non-stop, for instance, i can be on URC and get pop-ups. What is worse is that ill have no windows open, just ill be on my desktop and get pop-ups. Its crazy. I dont want a pop-up blocker because they make it hard to navigate the web. Anyway, it started after i clicked a link that my friend gave me to his outwar crap. Ever since i cant get them to go away. My computer is always on the internet (cable) and my router switches IP's every 36 hours or so. Any ideas?

It could be that you need to delete your cookies to try and get rid of it.

I don't know how much it differs between operating systems, cause i have XP pro. For me i just go to my C drive open documents and settings, go into my folder (has different folder for each user and guests etc.), then you open the folder labeled cookies, and delete. Hope that helps.

Thanx. I run XP Pro too. One mor question (dont want to ruin my computer, my dad would kill me  ) should I delete everything or keep the 3 data files at the top? TIA.

I'm not sure exaclty what they do but I would keep them just in case.

Thanx, I saved the data files & when it prompted me if im sure I want to delete these files, the total came to 1,480!! Anyway, it took around a minute to delete them all. Again thanx. I will let you know how it turns out.

Bad news! Theyre back as of this morning, I checked my cookies folder and it was again filled, just not as many. I have my internet options setup to only allow cookie from websites i aprove. How are they getting in?

Edit: Theyre getting worse by the minute. It's like they found a hole and are pouring through it!

Dude, you got SPYWARE...

I had it too, but Download+and run Ad-Aware, search through, and delete all the files it says(make sure no good files are in there, it can happen.) If you run Kazaa, GET RID OF IT.
Get Kazaa Lite, no spyware or adware. Dont remember the link for it, just type in kazaa lite on google.

That should take care of your popups, it did for me
:)

Good luck

Peace,
Jordan

Hmm, Ad-Aware solved all my problems. Look for any installed programs under your "Add/Remove Programs" folder of the control panel. Look for anything suspicious, such as save.com or anything.

Nothing in there, I'm gonna try ad-ware again.

ou have spyware in your computer somewhere. We're gonna help you get rid of it. Do you have any downloaded movies or audio files AT ALL? Also are you running a full scan on Adaware? I mean EVERYTHING! Also, what kind of pop-ups are they? Like the spy camera things? Or the ones that are gray boxes with only black text in them?

Most of them are get rid of pop-ups quick. Some are surveys. Another one is a black box with typing, it looks like a DOS window. I download movies all the time from RC Pics.net and Trilordy, SwamiRC at times, but thats it...

Edit: Got a picture of my desktop after one came up. Here (http://community.webshots.com/scripts/editPhotos.fcgi?action=showMyPhoto&albumID=77986086&photoID=77986184&security=ILgiVC). Gotta love the ESPNEWS Bottom Line!:bling:
