Ya, i real WEIRD problem. Ok, last night, i downloaded a couple of songs, the went to bed. Got home from school today, and open winamp and the song is skipping. I'm like , i've had this problem before, so i uninstalled it, and reinstalled it. Didn't work. Then after talking to people on AIM trying to figure out what in the world is wrong, nothing worked. I noticed something else. Its {NOT ONLY SOUND THAT IS SKIPPING}. If i move my mouse slowly across the screen, every 2 seconds, it studders. Even when i'm typing. ( you would not believe how many missing letters were in this that I had to go back and re-do.) I did disk defragment, got rid of everything that wasnt' needed like games... I'm running 608 memory. I've never had a problem before. The thing is, i downloaded 2 songs... I got rid of 10, and it still skips. Even if i'm not using any programs. The whole computer is hesitating.. Thanks in advance. If you, or somebody you know a computer genius, my AIM name is t3eaterjonny

Probably the person who put the song up on Kazaa had a damaged cd.

try something called ad-aware from lavasoftusa.com, i had the same stuttering when i bought an optical mouse, the reason was that there was so much ad ware and spyware on my pc! and that stuff just clings onto kazza files and gets into ure system. my pc works fine now

I would agree with Peder on this one. It's probably a bad rip that someone had done off of a cd. The reason that your mouse might skip/shudder when the song is playing is because winamp is suffering from the corrupted data that it is trying to read off of the file. Download a different version of the song or just a different song file and see if that helps.

ITS NOT JUST MUSIC. its the whole computer. read the caps on my post.. a crappy cd doesnt' cause a whole comptuer to skip. I upped my cache too. Still didn't help. i Dont' have adware/adfarm/spam ware lol i Got rid of it all from www.pcpitstop.com

What os is this? How many processes are running (or applications... do ctrl-alt-del to view)? How many things are in your startup folder? How much ram do you have? 608 sounds like an odd amount. What kind of processor? How much free space on your hard drives?

I see anti-virus on pcpitstop but not ad ware/spy ware removal... Maybe I missed it. I totally agree with Jamie though. Ad Aware kicks butt. Download it, check for updates (just like Norton) and scan away. It's free and small so there is no reason not to.

Really it is really hard to troubleshoot without more info. The more info you can give us about your system the better we might be able to help.

With what you've said it sounds like the system is running out of resources.

Thor....get a mac,lol
silly PC people and their problems, iTunes rules all, :rollin:

A bid rip would be a possibility, but spyware can never really be removed if the new Kazza software has taken effect. What kazza does is build the spyware RIGHT INTO THE PROGRAM on the new version i believe. You cannot delete it, and if you use a program to block it, kazza can tell because the outgoing signal doesn't get to their mainframe, then kazza doesn't work. Either way, i use a mac, so i have none of those problems.
If it's a wireless mouse, that may be a problem with something interferring it or to check the batts. Run a norton check and see what programs are taking up the most speed.

Yeah, I agree with banditjon, and Twiggy. Winamp could be struggling to decode the music file, causing it to hog more system resources.

Give us as much info as you can about your system.

Yeah, definitely sounds like spyware. And as for Macs, let me put it this way: There's a reason why Macs didnt win over the PC, and only one of them is illegal (?) practices by Microsoft. The other is that Mac OS is pretty counter-intuiutve, if you ask me. IMHO, XP is much better than OSX (I have both), although iMovie is pretty sweet.
