ok, sorry for the noobiness, but what drivers exactly will i need?

GOLDSNIPER
7.30.09, 1:22 am
Well the driver's depend on operating sytems and specific parts of the computer. Tell me what OS your going to use and I will give you links to some of the latest driver's.

32 bit or 64 bit.

bandaro
7.30.09, 2:00 am
oooh, good question, i think someone said earlier that the 64 didnt have many programs to go with it yet? but a friend has 64 and says its fine... so i will say 64, will the drivers be very different?

Another difference is that you can not use more than 3gb of ram with 32 bit. I personally use 64 bit and have no problems with different software. Personally I would wait for Window's 7 though.

My sytem spec's are [Laptop Spec's] :

2.8ghz Proccessor
4 gb Ram
500gb 7200 RPM hard drive
Nvidia 9600M GT 512mb
Dual boot processor's [OS X [Leopoard] & Window's Vista]

I am in the process of building my own gaming rig and these are the specs it will have.

Quad Core Proccessor
Sli graphic's
Windows 7
8gb Ram
1tb Hard drive

Haven't quite decided yet. Still saving up as it will be a expensive build. LOL!

only 3gb ram? damn, not 32 then, when is windows 7 set to be released? and does that mean i will have to wait a bit for drivers, or will they come out together?

GOLDSNIPER

The driver's will depend on the manufacturer and Windows 7 is coming I believe this fall. Not completely sure though.

thanks for the offer canadian, but ship to canada from australia? would double the price of the computer, lol. as for everyone else, thanks a bunch for the info, really helped me understand the building of a computer :D

i have a friend at a computer store, and he can do me a "dan discount" on a sony viao notebook (http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&categoryId=16154) thats priced around $2300 for $1900 with the extended warrenty, then i can get some design stuff (wacom drawing pad thing), free windows 7 when it comes out, mouse, security, 16gb usb, all that stuff for $2500 australian bucks, and to get that in a desktop, with those specs would cost around $2500 online, or 2000-ish instore, prebuilt.

then he said get a caddy and a 1tb hard drive from a computer fair (he got one for $115!!!) and set it up as an external hard drive, in addition to the 400gb built in.

but do you guys think this is a good computer? P8700 processor, 4gb ddr2 ram, 512 vid, but can take another one of the cards.
