You should be able to. I run Windows 7 on my Acer Aspire one! But it came with Windows XP.

Yeah, but the Acer already has Linux, and the disk says XP only.

I downloaded Windows on mine with an external disk drive. When installing Ubuntu, I used a thumb drive. If you want both OS's, you'll need to partition the hard drive, which isn't fun.

I'll be installing it via XP actually. No, I don't want to partition.

Where did you get your copy of XP?

I decided to go with the Linux netbook and dual boot Xp. How do I partition ubuntu?

Hmm.... whenever I did that, I used Wubi on XP to install it! Sorry, but I can't help. You'll need to do some research. Try www.ubuntuforums.com .

Most times a restore disk comes with the computer. Some of the newer computers don't and just have a restore partition on the hard drive; you'll have to find out a different way to get a copy if that is so.

Yeah, I have an Xp disk, but I think I'm going to use an SP2 XP torrent.

Better watch out...the easier (and legal) way to get an updated disk is to use Nlite to slipstream SP3 into an image of the disk you already have.

How do I go about that stampede_dude?

Download NLite

Here's a guide to using NLite to slipstream SP3

Thanks, but I'm not exactly sure what it does?

It makes an image of the Windows XP disk and lets you modify the contents and then reburn the disk.

can I re-burn it to a flash drive? The netbook has no disk drive.
