GMail gives you just over 7GB of storage for your email files. Now I figured out how you can turn GMail into a hard drive on your computer.

Shoot your browser over to http://www.viksoe.dk/code/gmail.htm and scroll down to the download link.

Let the program download then go to My Computer>GMail Drive. You can save files on this drive for extra space or to backup your computer.

I recommend using a new or unused account to take full advantage of the amount of available space and because every files you save shows up in that account.

Best regards,

That's cool if it works. Does it work as good and do you have that flippin' annoying limit per file??

Yeah, it works great! No file limit either (as long as it's under the gigs in you Gmail account).

I made a new account just for this because it pretty much just email you your files so every file is a new email. You can still save and retrieve as you would with a regular drive.

Yeah, heard about that in a PC magazine. Pretty cool, but only if you have internet, and it's fast.

Yes, you have to be connected to the web, but it doesn't have to be all that fast. I've tried it on a slower computer and a faster one and the connection time isn't much worse if any.

It's great for storing photos and music.

It takes about 5 seconds at the most to load it on my computer.
